Small Society Lotteries are required to be registered with the local authority where the principal office of the society is located. The Society must state in their application that it is established and conducted for one or more of the following: for charitable purposes; for the purpose of enabling participation in, or of supporting, sport, athletics or a cultural activity; orfor any other non-commercial purpose other than that of private gain.

Total proceeds (ticket sales) from each Small Society Lottery may not exceed £20,000 and the proceeds of all lotteries in the same calendar year may not exceed £250,000
