Abnormal loads - road transport
Service Outline
Abnormal loads are loads carried by road that are over 40 tonnes in weight, 2.9m in width or 18.65m in length or for which the axle weights exceed the limits specified by the vehicle construction and use regulations. Hauliers who wish to move abnormal loads must notify the relevant authorities and in some cases complete special forms, provide indemnities to highway authorities and bridge owners and obtain permission from the Highways Agency. Manchester City Council are the highway authority for the City of Manchester.
