Service Outline
Manchester City Council is responsible for trees on council-owned land; in areas of public open space such as parks, housing estates, open spaces and recreation grounds. This includes the application of tree preservation orders and the protection of other trees on council owned land.

Many trees within the city are protected by Tree Preservation Orders or are located within Conservation Areas where owners are responsible for notifying the Council before carrying out any work on them. You can find out if a tree has a preservation order at the Customer Service Centre at First Street or by calling the Planning department on 0161 234 4516
