Traffic calming
Service Outline
Traffic calming is the application of traffic engineering and other physical measures to help drivers to regulate their speeds to levels appropriate to local conditions.
Manchester City Council have a range of traffic calming options that can be used to improve road safety at locations that have been identified as having high casualty rates.
Not all traffic calming measures are appropriate in all situations and the best type of scheme for each location will be selected according to the location and type of traffic using the road. Road users and local residents are consulted about all proposed traffic calming schemes.
