Overview and scrutiny

Service Outline

Overview and Scrutiny plays an important role in Council decision making.

Overview and Scrutiny Committees review decisions made by the Council and make recommendations to ensure that the people of Manchester get the best out of their public services.

Overview and Scrutiny Committees also play an important part in helping to make sure that the Council's services are delivered the way residents want.

Committees mainly look at services provided by the Council but can also look at wider issues involving other agencies. For example the Health and Well-being Overview and Scrutiny Committee looks at how NHS services can help improve the well-being of local residents.

You can suggest a topic for the Overview and Scrutiny committee, an online form that only takes a minute to fill out. You can also read read committee agenda, minutes and reports

If you have a particular interest in a topic a committee is looking at (it could be as a service user, community organisation or employee) you might want to attend or speak at a scrutiny committee meeting.
