Service Outline
One of Manchester Primary Care Trust's (PCT) objectives is to ensure that people in Manchester have access to high quality, safe health services when they need them. To this end, Manchester PCT will continue to provide a range of frontline services such as health visiting, district nursing, and speech and language therapy.
The core functions of a Primary Care Trust are:
- To improve the health of local people
- To provide and develop high quality primary and community health services that meet the needs of local people in a cost effective way
- To purchase (commission) hospital care and other specialist treatment for the local population.
