Registering to vote
Service Outline
To vote at an election or referendum you must be registered to vote.
You can register to vote if you are:
- over 16 (but you cannot vote until you are 18)
- a British or Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Irish Republic or other European Union state
- not otherwise disqualified from registration.
