Disabled people - parking badge enforcement
Service Outline
Manchester City Council has a dedicated team who gathers evidence against drivers who misuse a genuine badge and also bring to prosecution individuals who use a fake blue badge. These inconsiderate people are using these badges to gain the concessions offered by the blue badge scheme. This scheme entitles the holder of a legitimate badge to park unrestricted by time in a pay and display bay without the need for payment. The team are presently only able to take action on-street as their powers do not extend to car parks within retail outlets.
The misuse of a genuine Disabled Badge carries a maximum fine of £1,000 and this applies in addition to any other penalty that may be imposed for the associated parking offences.
To report any misuse of a Disabled Person's badge or for more information, contact the Enforcement Team on 0161 234 5004.
