Ordering a memorial

Service Outline

If you have a grave reference number (which you are given when you purchase a private grave), cemetery staff can locate a grave whether it is marked or not, because all grave areas are carefully surveyed before being brought into use. However, it can be difficult for owners to locate a grave unless it is marked in some way. The best way of doing so is with a temporary grave marker or a permanent memorial.

Various regulations apply to the types and sizes of memorials which can be erected in Manchester cemeteries. Hard stone, marble and granite are the only materials permitted, working with them is a skilled job, and as there are regulations governing the method of construction, you will need to consult a monumental mason. There are also limits on the size of memorials permitted in a cemetery and the monumental mason will be able to explain these to you in details. A memorial may include a holder for cut flowers.
