Heaton Park is one of the largest municipal parks in Europe and was part of the estate of the Earls of Wilton. It forms 25% of the green space in Manchester and has been owned by Manchester City Council since 1902. The magnificent 18th century Heaton Hall is a grade 1 listed building and is one of a variety of listed buildings that are situated with in Heaton Park. The animal centre on site has animals ranging from pigs to rabbits and we also have Highland Cattle and Donkeys. The Hidden Gem Garden Centre stocks and sells amazing hanging baskets and plants through out the year and you can also buy honey from the main office provided by our on site bee hives.
Bowling greens, an 18-hole pay and play golf course (www.mackgolf.co.uk), pitch and putt, park run (www.parkrun.org.uk), yoga and rowing boats for hire on the boating lake cater for the more energetic.
There is also a Transport Museum where you can take a ride on vintage trams and little train that tours sections of the site.
