Squatters and unauthorised occupants

Service Outline

Although not as common as it once was, squatting in council housing causes a lot of problems. It means a longer wait for people who need a new home, and a loss of rent money. The law is quite complicated - it can take us some time to move a squatter out. So the sooner we find out, the better. If you think that someone is living in a council home illegally, tell us straightaway.

If you think someone is squatting in a home owned by another landlord (private, or non-profit) please tell the landlord.
