Service Outline

Manchester Family Information Service is a free, confidential and impartial information and advice service for families with children aged 0-19 years (25 years for children with special needs).

We provide information about: 

  • Looking for childcare
  • Sports & Leisure Activities
  • Before & After School Clubs
  • Holiday Clubs
  • Applying for a school place
  • Working Parent Rights
  • Adult & Toddler Groups/Clubs
  • Advice & Information on Parenting
  • Youth Provision
  • Tax Credits & Childcare Vouchers
  • Support for children with disabilities
  • General information for families with children aged 0-19 years
  • The FIS deals with requests for Short breaks for disabled children. 

Details are available in the Disability Services Zone of the Family Service Directory. 

We also offer advice and support to year 6 parents to choose and apply for a secondary school place for their child.
