Witness support

Service Outline

Victim Support is the national charity which helps people affected by crime. They provide free and confidential support to help you deal with your experience, whether or not you report the crime. Victim Support helped over 250,000 witnesses and contacted over 1,500,000 victims of crime last year alone.

How can Victim Support help you? (all external links)
If you are a victim of crime, the local Victim Support branches can give you and your family and friends information and support. And if you are going to court, the Witness Service can help before, during and after the trial.

If you want to speak to Victim Support directly, please contact the Victim Support helpling on 0845 30 30 900.

If you have hearing difficulties, please call the TextDirect access number: 18001 0845 30 30 90, or you can call our minicom (or text telephone) number on 020 7896 3776.

Victim support can also give you information by letter and by email. Our email address is supportline@victimsupport.org.uk

Victim Support is open: 9am - 9pm (Mondays to Fridays) 9am - 7pm (weekends) and 9am - 5pm (bank holidays)

Non-mobiles are charged at the local rate, but the number will appear on your itemised bill. If someone else will see your home telephone bill and you don't want them to know you've phoned Suppportline, you may prefer to use a public telephone. Or you may prefer to use a mobile, but please be aware that the number will also appear on the bill and the call will be charged at the usual rate by your provider.

Urgent support
If you are feeling desperate and need to speak to someone outside of the Supportline hours, you might like to contact the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 for the cost of a local call. Or you can email: jo@samaritans.org.
