Winter services - roads
Service Outline
Each winter, from November until the end of April we receive daily forecasts from the Met Office telling us the expected weather conditions for the next 24 hours, and a prediction for the following five days.
We use these forecasts to decide when to grit roads, pavements and cycle paths. Although we do treat a large proportion of the city's roads, we are only able to treat sections of pavements and cycleways at key locations throughout the city. These locations include busy pedestrian routes in the city centre, district shopping streets and other pavements linking transport interchanges etc.
