Manchester City Council

Divided and United

The eyes of the world were on our city today as City visited Old Trafford for a derby match just four days after the 50th anniversary of the Munich air tragedy. There will be mixed feelings inevitably about the result of the game (for the record I'm delighted) but there will be no division about the moving Munich commemoration that preceded it. All Manchester can take pride in the wonderful behaviour of both sets of supporters as they paid their respects to the 23 people who lost their lives at Munich maintaining the minute's silence with reverence and dignity.
