Manchester's Journey

One of my responsibilities as Leader of the City Council is to chair the Manchester Partnership, and today we are putting the finishing touches to Saturday’s free fun family event "2015 Manchester's Journey".

We're inviting people to come along tomorrow to Manchester Central (formerly G-Mex) from 11am to join a range of activities, performances, singing and refreshments so we can all input into how we help to make Manchester healthier, happier and wealthier by 2015.

One of our own home-grown stars Olympic athlete Darren Campbell will be there, talking to visitors between 1pm and 2pm. And if anyone wants to talk to me, I'll be there at the same time.

My view is that Manchester will be what the people of Manchester want it to be. So this is a great opportunity for residents to come and tell us what's important to them and their neighbourhood.

Although free and open to the public, you have to register so either ring Jenny on 0161 234 3541 or visit www.manchesterpartnership.org.uk and click on 2015:manchester's journey.

There's also a short film looking at what makes people happy in Manchester made by Wake Up Productions youth project called Fresh from Manchester. And also, Moss Side Youth Project RECLAIM will be performing its production 'The Reality of Life in Moss Side'.

I hope to see you there. And I'll feed back next week on the views that we pick up from you.
