Sharp Talent Pipe Online

A fantastic couple of hours this morning helping judge a competition to design a billboard sign for the Sharp Project on Oldham Road. The Project itself is a developing base for digital media and the brief was for something not only eye-catching, but that would tell the Sharp Project story.

Teams from Plant Hill, North Manchester High School for Boys, and North Manchester High School for Girls pitched to a panel consisting of three experienced professionals plus me and what we got was a real eye opener. High quality and confident presentation, multi-disciplinary team work using the different strengths of each team member, thorough and intelligent research, creative design, and skilled execution using a range of techniques. Only one design can be used on the building but every team was a winner and they should be very proud of the work they have done, as should their schools. This goes to the heart of innovative and creative Manchester, giving the opportunity to our young people, in this case from North Manchester, to show what they can do, and to see what doors might open for them in the future if they put the work in. Great stuff!
