Children's Trust Arrangements (CTA)
Information on CTA
Stakeholder CommunicationAs you may now be aware, the government recently confirmed its intentions to close down ContactPoint, and the DfE have now informed us that ContactPoint will be closed in a managed, secure and controlled way at noon on 6 August 2010, allowing time for us to undertake the necessary activities prior to switch off. We are scrapping ContactPoint. We will develop better ways of keeping children safe. The investment made won't be wasted because we can use the technical expertise we've acquired to protect those children most in need. But the idea of a single national IT database for all children has gone for good. |
Services for children, young people and their families across Manchester will be delivered in a more cohesive and efficient way through the forging of effective working arrangements and partnerships under the Children's Trust Arrangements.
Establishment of Children's Trust Arrangements is not about creating an organisation, it is about co-ordination of current arrangements that place the child at the centre. It is a process that requires a degree of flexibility in order that services can develop in response to local need and circumstance.
The arrangements will build upon, bring together and formalise the successful joint working that already exists including Sure Start, Connexions, the Children's Fund and Youth Offending Teams.
All partner agencies, including the voluntary and community sector will play an integral role in the establishment of the children's trust, in particular in representing the views of service users and in helping to understand local needs.
Current projects
The following projects are currently underway and will contribute significantly to the establishment of Manchester Children's Trust Arrangements.
Accommodation Project
Many services will be delivered through one of the 6 districts where joint management teams comprising senior staff from Health, Children's Social Care and Education will work together to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. This project will identify any barriers and implement strategic solutions to improve accomodation and facilitate integrated working.
eCAF
eCAF will allow completed Common Assessment Framework (CAF) forms to be stored in a single accessible system.
Lead Professional
This project supports the implementation of the role of the Lead Professional (LP) to ensure a coordinated package of support is provided and transferred through a Team Around the Child (TAC) approach, so that children, young people and their families access the help they need at the earliest opportunity and in a way that promotes their engagement with, and empowerment by, services to maximise their potential.
Joint Commissioning
This project aims to take best practice, use analysis of the current and future state of the service and develop the overall approach to commissioning taken by the service to provide a clear, robust process that is focussed on improving outcomes and is driven by needs in order to support the objectives and intentions of the Children's and Young People's Plan.
