What the project will do
A number of projects are planned, as part of a bid by Incredible Edible Levenshulme, to improve the area around the station, where the market takes place, and on the nearby Village Green.
We’ll introduce more greenery with bulbs, beds and planters, looked after by local traders, the community interest company that runs the market, and other local groups like Incredible Edible.
An overgrown tree in the station car park will have its crown thinned and raised.
More bike parking will be put in as well as new recycling bins on the shoppers’ car park. The frames along the walls of the Village Green will be filled with local information and archive photos. Market signage and information will be installed at the Albert Road and Station View entrances. The old bollards will be replaced on both sides of Stockport Road.
Network Rail will help with this project, doing repairs and cleaning of the brickwork in the bridge area. Funding was also awarded to The Levenshulme District Centre Partnership, which will be used to develop a mural project by the local youth team.

How much funding this project was given
Incredible Edible Levenshulme have worked with a local youth group to design and paint a mural on the container where the Levenshulme market furniture is kept. They’re developing mugs for the market that can be recycled, using a deposit scheme, the same as Manchester Markets.
