Deposit a site cabin or storage container on the highway

  1. Summary

    A permit is required if you want to deposit a site cabin or storage container on the highway (road/pavement).

    If a site cabin is required, as long as this is placed within the Hoarding then a separate site cabin permit is not required.   

    Only apply for a site cabin permit from us if the location fails within Manchester City Council check which council. 

  2. Fees

    Total cost is £112, which is £56 for an inspection (applied to all applications) and £56 for the permit (maximum of 28 days).

    The permit can be renewed for a further 28 days at a fee of £56.

  4. Attachments required

    • Public liability insurance, minimum cover £10million; and
    • A scale plan of the site showing the position of the structure/obstruction on the road/pavement.

  5. Processing and timescales

    We will contact you within 5 working days with either the permit (which must be displayed on site) or in some instances we may need to visit the site and discuss the proposed works in more detail.

  7. Validity and renewals

    The permit is valid for the period approved up to a maximum of 28 days.

    You can renew your permit for a further 28 days
