Temporary directional signs

  1. Summary

    Temporary directional signs are used to promote an event, including charity events or a project i.e. housing developments.

    Only apply for a crane permit from us if the location fails within Manchester City Council check which council.

  2. Fees

    • Events can have up to 16 signs for:
      • 7 days £31 or
      • a maximum of 2 months £103; 
    • Housing developments can have up to 4 signs for a maximum of 6 months £359

    All the above applications also have an administration fee applied of £112

    Charity events are free

  4. Attachments required

    • Public Liability Insurance, not less than 10 million;
    • A scale of the site showing the position of the structure/obstruction on the road or pavement; and/or
    • If you want a sign on a Street Lighting Column (SLC), then provide the SLC number and a photo identifying the location;

  5. Processing and timescales

    We will contact you within 21 working days with either the licence or in some instances we may need to contact you and discuss the proposed licence in more detail.

    The licence is valid for the period approved
