  1. The materials we hold were collected by Paul Bataillard and bought by Manchester Libraries Committee in 1895.

  2. What's available

    A unique collection of books, pamphlets and manuscripts, many in French or German, on the history, language and customs of gypsies in Europe. 

    The collection also contains the principal books relating to the gypsies, short articles taken from magazines, newspapers, encyclopaedias and artefacts including birth certificates, photographs and hair slides.
