Mail order catalogues

  1. A mail order catalogue is a printed list showing the items a company sells. It's believed that the first was produced in 1744.

  2. What's available

We hold mainly British catalogues dating from the 1960s, although there are some earlier examples.

Littlewoods catalogues 1932 to 1980 are held on colour microfiche (ref: BRMFE 658.827Li1)

  3. How to access

Ask a member of staff in the Central Library search room for a list of items.

You can also look at catalogues from the collection in the search room, please make an appointment  (with at least one day notice).

Microfilms are available on the ground floor at Central Library, no appointment needed.
