Methodism arrived in the 18th century and John Wesley is generally regarded as being the founder. Methodists are Nonconformists who objected to the liturgy and ceremonies of the established church. They also objected to church government, authority of bishops and links with the state.
We hold various Methodist records at Central Library including information about:
- types of Methodists
- the circuits system
- collections of records are based on circuits
- district records
- church records
