A tribute for Manchester. A lovely poem written by my brothers friend.......

    Fate

Her Birthday morning, half past five

    Excitement beaming from her eyes

An envelope, so small and flat

Surely not, that can’t be that?

But sure enough, it bares her name

Are her parents playing a silly game?

She opens a corner to peek inside

The joy she feels, she cannot hide

“Oh thank you Dad, and thank you Mum”

“And there are two, my friend can come”

The weeks and months just seem to fly

Like the blink of a child’s eye

On the train, it won’t be long

Over and over, they play the same song

In the heart of the screaming crowd

Oh so happy, oh so proud

The last encore, and it’s time to go

They file out slowly, row by row

    Suddenly, there’s a mighty roar

Screaming again, but not like before

    Panic now and people crying

    All around her bodies lying

“Who would do this...” She starts to say

But then she’s gone, she's slipped away

This is the evil that men do

Carried out by a dreadful few

    Cutting loose, a teenage rite

Cut short on this fateful night

In the name of our God they preach

It’s tolerance we need to teach

    Someone’s son, someone’s daughter

We need to end this unholy slaughter
