Market stalls - application to trade at local markets

  2. Summary

    There are two trading options at the Local Markets:

    1. Casual trading at local outdoor markets

    If you want to sell goods or services on a casual basis at one of the local markets, including the second-hand and mixed markets, you need to apply for a casual registration agreement. You will then be issued with a Casual Registration Card which allows you to attend the market on the day of trading and apply to trade for the day. 

    Casual trading is available at Harpurhey market, Longsight market and Wythenshawe market

    2. Regular trading at the local markets

    If you want to trade from the same trading space, at the same market, every trading day you will need to apply for an occupancy agreement.

    N.B. If you already occupy a regular trading space and wish to apply for additional space, or would like to move to another space you will also need to apply for an occupancy agreement

    You can apply to trade regularly at 

    Arndale market, Church Street market, Gorton Market, Harpurhey market, Longsight market and Wythenshawe market

  3. Fees

    None for the application however market occupancy charges will apply.

  5. Attachments required

    a) Passport-sized colour photograph; b) Proof of identity (passport, driving licence, photo identity card); c) Proof of address (financial statement, utility bill or TV licence, insurance certificate/document etc); d) Public Liability Insurance policy document or NMTF membership card; e) Certificate of registration with Environmental Health for a food business establishment (if applicable); f) Certificate of registration with Trading Standards for a dealer in second-hand goods (if applicable).

  6. Processing and timescales

    Providing the application is complete, casual registration applications will be processed within 14 days.

    Following approval of an application for casual registration, the applicant will be notified and a casual registration agreement will be sent to you for signing.

    Once this has been agreed, a casual registration card will be sent to you within seven days.

  8. Validity and renewals

    Registration will remain in force until it is either changed or cancelled.

    Where the details you have registered with us change, you must provide notification within 14 days of the changes.
