Driver renewal - hackney carriage/private hire

  1. Summary

    All driver renewals can now be renewed online, you will receive a letter from us containing a unique number.

    Please submit your application at least 5 working days prior to expiry to allow time to process.

    Exception - you can NOT renew online if:

    • your hackney carriage or private hire driver licence (badge) has expired.

    If you are required to send us a new DVLA mandate this year (to allow us to view your DVLA Licence details) you will have been sent a blank form with your renewal letter. If, for any reason, you need a re-print you can do that here re-print DVLA blank mandate.

    3 years

    Once the licence has expired it cannot be renewed and a new application should be submitted

    DBS - as the licence is now valid for 3 years, you will be required to sign into the DBS update service, to enable an annual on-line check to be carried out by us. All details about the update service can be found on the DBS website https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service

    Anyone who is asked to attend in front of a hearing is provided with documentation, which outlines both the hearing process and appeal.

    Decision letters from the hearing also provide details of appeal.

    Any person can appeal any decision made by us to the Magistrates Court.
