Summary
To use a portion of a public footpath or place for the sale of food and drink and for the placing of tables, chairs and other furniture outside for patrons to use whilst consuming food and drink. -
Fees
Annual Table and Chairs Licence £250.00.
There is an additional charge of £15.00 per square meter per twelve month period for the area of highway occupied by the table and chairs. -
Validity / Renewals
The Licence is valid for 12 months and renewed annually. -
Change of circumstances
Please also use this form to notify us of any change in circumstances. -
Relevant legislation
Consideration will be given to:
a) Is there room for the use as proposed and for the public to pass by safely;
b) Is the quality of air and the immediate environment suitable;
c) What other footway uses and users need to be considered;
d) How will the proposed use affect the neighbouring properties;
e) Does the proposal meet the various criteria outlined in the regulations;
f) Full list and description of considerations for gaining approval for an application are included in the guidance notes;
Applications are determined on the basis of the Council's relevant planning policies, the individual merits of the application and relevant Central Government Policy.

Application Evaluation Process
Public notice of the application must be given detailing the proposal and deadline for representations.
All representations received must be considered.
Any other relevant authorities must be consulted.
Consents must not be unreasonably withheld. -
Processing Timescales
Within 5 working days your application will be evaluated, providing all the correct information has been provided.
An officer will attend a site visit within the next 5 working days. The officer will either grant or reject the application.
If granted a licence will be forwarded to you. If rejected a full explanation will be provided. -
Will Tacit Consent Apply
Tacit Consent will apply.
This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from Manchester City Council by the end of the target period.
Please note Tacit Consent will only apply once a full application has been submitted and you have received an acknowledgment from Manchester City Council.
