    Design for Access 2

The second edition of Design for Access. The manual sets out aspirational standards which will, we believe, help to promote exciting, vibrant and creative accessible design. It is also intended that these standards will be pro-active in the national debate concerning the statutory framework needed to secure access for all.

    Independent Living

The Independence Development Service for physically disabled children is a residential resource situated at the Abraham Moss Centre in Crumpsall: it offers a service to disabled children and young people (aged 10-16) who attend a school in Manchester and live within the City Boundary.

The primary aim of the IDS is to work with students to help them develop skills which lead to greater physical, social, emotional, personal and intellectual development through practical experience.

The IDS provides the opportunity to work with students and their families in realistic settings throughout the community, over an agreed period of time. It also aims to work closely with schools and other agencies to develop independence, extend personal experience, and promote social and educational inclusion.
