Council tax Get your council tax bill by email

Electronic billing (e-Billing) is a faster way to receive your council tax bill, it is secure, and saves on paper and postage costs.

You can sign up at any time, just fill in the short form and we'll do the rest.

You need your email, phone number and council tax reference number. You can find your reference number on any bill or letter received from us. If you cannot find it, phone 0161 234 5002.

Everyone named on the bill or responsible for paying the council tax has to agree to get the bill by email. You’ll need:

  • their permission
  • one of them to agree to get the bill too
  • that person's email address

Once you've registered for this service, you will receive all council tax bills and reminders via email. If your account falls into arrears and is summonsed, the summons notice will be sent by post.

You can change the email address you want to use at any time, you just need to complete a new form.

If you want to stop using e-billing, you can complete the short form by visiting the Contact council tax page.
