What is the maximum age that a grant will be awarded for going to university?
There is no maximum age for grants to be awarded for going to university although there is a maximum age of 65 for applying for the Maintenance Loan of 4625 (maximum). The help available is as follows:
- Maintenance Grant = £2835 (based on household income. The income of parents for students under 25 and of spouse/ civil partner for students of any age who are married or in a civil partnership or partner for students over 25.)
- Tuition Fee Loan = £3450 (not based on household income)
- Maintenance Loan = £4625 (based on household income. If you are eligible for the maintenance grant the first £1200 of this entitlement is deducted from the entitlement to maintenance loan giving an entitlement of the loan of £3673. Students who are 65 or over will not be entitled to the maintenance loan.)
