CASH Grants Application 2009
Guidance notes
Manchester City Council is offering grants of up to £40,000 per ward to local residents to help make a real difference to their community. You can do anything that improves or brings benefits to your local area, such as improving existing community facilities, creating a community work of art or improving a piece of waste land.
Who can apply?
Almost anyone can apply - friends and neighbours or voluntary, community and residents groups. All you need is a project based in Manchester that will benefit Manchester residents and which you can see through from start to finish.
What kind of project will get a grant?
Your project needs to be in keeping with your local ward plan, which you can get from your ward support officer. Funding decisions will be made by ward co-ordinators after consultation with local councillors.
How do we apply?
Once you have discussed with friends and neighbours what it is you would like to do with the grant, you need to think about who will carry out the work. If it will be you and the members of your group, you need to fill in this application form and submit it.
What else do we need to do?
Your ward support officer will contact you to ask for any additional information and documentation that is needed, such as proof of how much the project will cost. If you decide you will need to use a contractor to do the work or supply the materials, you will need to get a quote from them. We may have to ask for more quotes later on if your application is successful.
If you want to use a Council department to do the work, your ward support officer (details on your ward page: find a link to it on the Ward coordination page) can tell you who you need to speak to so that you can find out how much the project will cost.
