Letting a House in a Selective Licensing Area

Statutory Requirements

You must let certain people know in writing that you have made this application.  The people who need to know about it are:

  • Any mortgagee of the property (such as a bank or building society)
  • Any owner of the property to which this application relates (if that is not you) such as any freeholder and any head lessees that you know about
  • Any other person who is a tenant or long standing leaseholder of the property or any part of it (including any flat) who you know about other than a statutory tenant or other tenant whose lease or tenancy is for less than 3 years (including a periodic tenancy)
  • The proposed licence holder (if that is not you)
  • The proposed manager or managing agent (if that is not you)
  • Anyone who has agreed that he or she will be bound by any condition or conditions in a licence if granted.

Before you start

You will need the following:

Detailed information about all the properties including Gas Safety Certificates.  If the property is a House in Multiple Occupation you will need to provide 1:50 plans of all floors, including the position of all fire precautions and original copies of all safety and inspection certificates, including Fire Safety Certificates.

If the application is being made on behalf of a company or charity, a signed Form A. You can download a copy of Form A from this website and print it out.

Disclosure Scotland forms or completed Form B for everyone that will be involved in managing the property or properties.  You can download a copy of Form B from this website and print it out.

Signed declarations from the owners of each of the properties to be licensed.  You can download a copy of the Owner Declaration form from this website and print it out.

You can speed up the application by uploading scanned copies of these documents at the appropriate place in the form but sight of the originals will still be needed before a licence can be granted.

We would expect to receive the original documents within 7 days of submission of your on-line application.
