Armed Forces Day 2010

On Monday 21 June 2010, The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Mark Hackett, led the start of Manchester's official celebrations for Armed Forces Day by raising the armed forces flag, which was flown from the Town Hall roof.

The Lord Mayor was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant and the Greater Manchester Garrison, Adjutant and RSM. The flag raising took place in cities around the country to launch a week-long programme of events and activities in honour of the country's armed forces.
