Henry Watson Music Library gallery
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. He gifted the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council in 1902. Watson's original collection has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisitions since.
The most important collection of manuscripts in the Henry Watson Music Library is undoubtedly the Newman Flower Collection. This comprises two important bodies of work: a collection of Handel manuscripts and a collection of Italian Music from the Early Eighteenth Century, including material by Vivaldi. It contains many other items of unique and original material.
