New Metrolink tram line

Work to build the Second City Crossing is now finished. The new tram line opened on Sunday 26 February 2017

The new Metrolink line, Second City Crossing (2CC), means more people will be able to travel. By 2020 we expect commuter trips to rise to 30,000 a day and the new line will increase the number of trams running through the city centre from 15 to 45 an hour. This increased flexibility means it'll be easier to travel around the city, and you'll get a more reliable, frequent service.

While the work is taking place, you may need to allow a little more time for your travel.  See how nearby roads are affected at www.gmroadworks.org. Or, see where your nearest Park & Ride is.

The second city crossing line is now finished and tram testing underway. Passenger services are expected to launch Spring 2017 and the St Peters Square stop will be fully opened.
