The £13.5 million investment at Whalley Range High School for Girls includes a new teaching block comprising a new sixth form centre with flexible learning spaces, integrated classrooms, technology and art facilities and will provide an inspirational learning environment for students and teachers. The new block is due to be completed in the summer 2011.

An outdoor courtyard will have a new café/outdoor dining area and performance space. The courtyard will be covered by a translucent canopy allowing for all weather usage.

In the main school, the corridor lighting is being replaced with modern energy efficient units controlled from daylight detectors and sensors. In addition, the main school power and data distribution is to be replaced to ensure the highest level of I.T performance for pupils. The project is due for completion in December 2011.
