The school can explain the choices further. Young people have to decide the right mix of learning or work – or both – that’s right for them between the ages of 16 and 18. As a parent, you must guide and support them to make the right decision. They need to think about how the training or education they choose matches their future career plan.

Career Connect provide careers information, advice, guidance and support to young people aged 15-18 (up to 25 for those with an EHCP or who are care experienced) and can arrange to see young people at a range of venues across Manchester to help with the following:

  • careers planning;
  • CV writing, job searches and applications;
  • local opportunities, including apprenticeships, work experience and a wide range of education and training;
  • referrals to partner agencies for specialist support;
  • engagement and mentoring to support personal development.
