Environmental problems Micro pigs

Selling micro pigs

If you wish to sell Micro Pigs you must adhere to the following:

  • You must add Micro Pigs onto your Pet Shop licence as another animals you are selling;
  • You will need to have a County Parish Holding number (CPH) supplied by the Rural Payments Agency, this is an identification number for the land and building(s) where your pig(s) will be kept;
  • Once the pigs are delivered to your shop they need to be registered - Micro Pigs MUST stay on your premises for 20 days. This is to protect against disease when pigs are being moved around the Country, most diseases would show within this period, so it effectively limits the spread of disease;
  • If other pigs are brought in to existing group the 20 day holding period will begin again, this applies to the whole group;
  • When the Micro Pigs are sold they must be accompanied by a movement licence, these are available free from us, see the Animal Movement Licence page for further information;
  • The pigs must also marked with a temporary mark before leaving your shop either with a circle, cross or line in coloured ink - special marker pens can be bought from Agricultural suppliers;
