Litter bins
We are responsible for installing, maintaining and emptying 3000 litter and dog bins throughout the city.
What you can do
Always use litter bins when you're out and about and encourage children to use them. If you can't find a litter bin, take your rubbish home with you.
Please only place your rubbish in your bins - check your collection arrangements. You can also take rubbish and recycling to your nearest tip.
If you think there is a litter problem in an area, you can request an additional bin. Or if there is a missing or damaged litter bin request a replacement, requests are reviewed on a quarterly basis (January, April, July and October).
Businesses should have their own arrangements for their waste and should not be disposing of rubbish in public bins.
Need Emptying?
Litter bins are emptied frequently, for example bins outside of shops are emptied daily. We will empty other bins when we see they are full or receive a request to empty
