Obstructions
You should be able to use roads and pavements safely, without obstruction.
On a pavement there should be enough space to push a double buggy or pass through in a wheelchair. Sometimes our roads and pavements are temporarily blocked by road / building works or public events: we have licensing and permit arrangements in place for these activities, to make sure that they are done safely and with the least obstruction or disruption.
You may come across obstructions which you feel are causing a nuisance however we will only investigate if it is causing a safety issue for example forcing pedestrians into the road or causing cars to swerve.
Often, problems can be resolved informally. Could you try speaking to the person or business responsible and trying to come to a compromise? Explain how the issue is affecting you and ask them if they can do something to help resolve it.
However, this informal approach may not always be successful, therefore if the obstruction is causing a safety problem then tell us about the issue and we will investigate.
If a vehicle is causing an obstruction on a road which isn't covered by parking restriction you need to contact GMP on 101 as we don't have any powers however if there are parking restrictions in place, then let us know and we can take action.
