The housing strategy: Building Manchester's neighbourhoods

Our housing strategy, Building Manchester's Neighbourhoods, sets out the principles and goals for developing homes and neighbourhoods until 2021.

It's about creating a strong sense of place where people have a choice of good homes in good neighbourhoods. It's about a Manchester that we're proud to call home.

The strategy describes how we will meets the needs and aspirations of Manchester's current and future residents, and how we will support the Greater Manchester vision for sustainable economic growth that's enjoyed by the many not the few.

The strategy is a draft at the moment. Local residents have given us their comments in a consultation period that ended in April 2011. The finished document will be published here soon.

The impact on equality

An 'equality impact assessment' looks at how planned changes to a policy, strategy or service can affect people because of their disability, gender, racial equality, age, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.

It identifies opportunities to promote equality, and helps us tackle negative impacts on particular groups of people.
