Affordable housing

Before we can make affordable housing a reality for everyone in the city, we have to find out how many homes, and what types of homes, Manchester needs - now and in the future.

The need for homes now

We carried out a special study to find out what type of housing the city needs now. We sent questionnaires to thousands of randomly-chosen households and interviewed over 1000 people in person. We compiled the results into a detailed report:

The need for homes in the future

Manchester is growing fast; new jobs mean new households moving to the city. So as well as checking the need for homes now, we must plan for the housing we'll need in the future.

Our Affordable Housing strategy describes how we'll improve access to all types of homes now and in the years ahead.
