The most important factor in delivering our vision for adults in Manchester is a world-class workforce able to provide highly personalised support. Manchester requires a well-led workforce delivering high quality services to improve outcomes for all its residents.

High quality services can have a significant impact on the long term outcomes of the residents on Manchester. In order to achieve this it is essential to have a workforce that:

What we do:

Our core function is to lead on integrated workforce planning and development across the directorate and wider adult social care Workforce in Manchester.

This includes the development of multi-agency teams, integrated skills development programmes and qualifications, development of the individual and service and arrangement of organisational development activities.

The Directorate for Adults Workforce Planning & Development Service offer a range of business support to Directorate and wider workforce including designing, development and commissioning workforce development events and activities, business planning performance and change management, events facilitation and co-ordination, workforce intelligence and performance data.

How we do it:

We work in consultation with managers to identify workforce requirements that link to national and local performance indicators. Through this relationship, the development needs of individuals, teams and services are identified which allow staff to deliver improved performance and outcomes for Manchester residents.

We also link with Manchester City Council Corporate Centre on a number of recruitment and promotion activities which address the outcomes of the community, people and city strategies.

Our performance is monitored through the Strategic Workforce Planning and Development Group.
