National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) are flexible qualifications which are suitable for many different care environments. The qualifications can be adapted to suit individual work roles. The NVQ will give you a qualification which provides your level of competence. All health and social care qualifications are for those 18 and over.
Manchester Adult Social Care commissions and provides a range of social care qualifications which meet the National Occupational Standards. These are available to non-statutory, independent and voluntary providers of social care within Manchester.
The Manchester Adult Social Care Workforce Planning and Development Service Assessment Centre is accredited by City and Guilds to assess the following qualifications:

NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care.

Registered Managers Award (Replaced by Leadership and management for care services (3078-41)

Assessor Award [A1].

Internal Verified Award [V1].

The NVQ will give you a qualification which proves your level of competence. All health and social care qualifications are for those 18 and 0ver.
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates (learners) undertaking this NVQ, however they must have the potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualification in the workplace within their role and responsibilities.
In 2006-7 and 2007-8 we achieved 100% success in all of the target areas set by the Learning and Skills Council.
These qualifications are made available through funding provided by the Learning and Skills Council and the Train to Gain initiative.
Assessment Centre has consistently achieved an A grade from City and Guilds regarding its delivery and assessment of these high quality awards.
If you are interested in starting to work towards one of these qualifications, please discuss it with your Line Manager in your annual appraisal. Once you have both reached an agreement, your Line Manager will need to contact Wendy Cooke, the NVQ Manager on 0161 203 2256.
Please note: some organisations will need to complete the National Minimum Data Set [NMDS-SC] questionnaire before being able to access these qualifications.
