Social care & support Young Carers

Are you a young carer?

Do you regularly look after someone in your family? Do you do the food shopping, wash your family's clothes and do the ironing? Do you give someone you love their medicine or take your little brother or sister to school?

If you do, you are not on your own. There could be as many as 18,000 young carers in Manchester, and as many as 200,000 in the UK. Not all young carers realise that there is help, advice and support available.

Maybe you feel like you're on call 24 hours a day. You might find it difficult to get to school on time, or sometimes get in at all, and maybe you struggle to finish homework. You might not have time to meet your friends, or make new ones because you have so much to do at home. You might be worried that people will find out you are a carer and treat you differently, or even take you away from your family if they find out.

Maybe you are coping okay but would like to be able to talk to other young carers.
