The problem of speeding and rat-running traffic remains one of our neighbourhoods main concerns and sadly, many people are hurt on our roads as a result of speeding.
Traffic calming, safety camera requests and other improvements far outweigh the resources available, and funding is currently limited and targeted towards road maintenance schemes. This means that unless alternative funding sources for new safety schemes can be secured we are restricted in what changes we can make. In some cases funding for new schemes may be available from developers or Central Government grants.
Complaints about anti-social problems i.e. high speed driving is a police matter and should be reported to them at http://www.gmp.police.uk/ or call 101.
We work with partners to tackle speeding through education, engineering and enforcement, as we share residents concerns about speeding. Often accidents or collisions cannot be prevented through safety measures. Where Education is the solution our Road Safety Team run many campaigns, courses and initiatives to educate road users to the dangers of speeding.
Report your concerns to us however at present we will only use this information to gather intelligence, should funds become available then this will help us identify high risk areas.
