Summary of policy statement
The core objectives for the authority are to ensure transport is not a barrier for learners in further education and that all learners are able to prepare for employment by accessing travel support and independence training where required.
The following sections outline how support will be provided to 16-19 year olds who require assistance to educational establishments. Where individual needs can not be met by public services there is provision to support learners attend further education.
A number of travel solutions have been created in partnership with service providers to ensure individuals can access further education. These services are outlined in the following pages.
Where required travel support is either means tested or subject to an assessment. The assessment criterion for each travel support service is specific to each.
