Green Travel and Travel Change
Green Travel Options
Encouraging people to think about the journeys they make and breaking down long standing habits of predominantly using a car to get around is not easy.
Manchester City Council, works to encourage people to think about the different transport options available to them. Travel change is about helping people to understand that they have a number of options to choose from and aims to encourage the uptake of more environmentally friendly modes, such as walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing.
Manchester City Council offers a selection of services to help to promote and encourage travel change, including:-
- A dedicated team of professionals working with businesses, and other organisations, to develop workplace travel plans and to promote flexible working practices.
- This dedicated team also includes a programme to further develop school travel plans and deliver specific school travel initiatives.
- Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy - A source of information for parents with regard to the work Manchester City Council carries out with schools and further education establishments to promote greener modes of travel.
- A City Centre Pay-By-The-Hour Car Club.
