Manchester Landlord Information Service: MLIS

What do you get with MLIS?

Manchester Landlord Information Service logoAs an MLIS landlord you can check whether the information a prospective tenant has told you is true, and find out how to get honest and accurate references.

MLIS cross-checks the information for you - with housing associations, the city council's neighbour nuisance teams, and other landlords for instance. We look at the prospective tenant's housing background to see if they have a history of:

  • rent arrears
  • damaging property
  • neighbour nuisance
  • antisocial behaviour
  • abandoning their home

The prospective tenant needs to give permission for MLIS to release information like this - but if they don't, you can decide not to offer them a tenancy.

And there's more

As well as these free checks you get:

  • extra help tackling antisocial behaviour and neighbour nuisance
  • free advice and guidance from our 'landlord advisor'
  • access to the City Council's landlord accreditation scheme (MLAS) - including discounts on insurance packages, building and security contractors and much more

Don't delay, sign up today

You can become an MLIS landlord if you rent out in East Manchester; or in Harpurhey, Moston, Miles Platting or Newton Heath in North Manchester - see MLIS areas.
